O mind, don't act like you know everything — the wise stay humble and gentle.
Pride and confusion get gently washed away when you take the wise word to heart. So stay low and soft, and you'll find real peace.
The verse deepens the previous one: don't be proud as if you know it all — gurmukh naam vakhaanai, the wise stay humble and modest. And it names the cost of the opposite: the world is consumed by ego, so watch, lest you lose your own self too. Humility here isn't self-put-down; it's simply not attaching your identity to your ego, not needing to be the biggest one in the room. The reward is immediate and gentle: abide in humility and obtain peace. Staying soft and low isn't weakness — it's where the peace lives.
Why do you think the people who know the most are often the most humble?
