In plain words

Please hear me, kind One — You who are gentle with the small and humble.

Put Your Name in my mouth like a gift. It's simply Your nature to love those who love You — so keep me safe.

It's simply the One's nature to love those who reach toward it — so you can ask with complete confidence.
The deeper layer

The Chhant ends in trusting prayer. It leans on a name for the One that recurs all through the raag: deen dayaal — Merciful to the meek, gentle precisely with the small and humble. And the prayer's confidence rests on the One's character: it is the Lord's natural way to love His devotees — loving is simply what the One does, its very nature, so the prayer isn't a long-shot request but a leaning-into something dependable. The one entering Sanctuary is saved by the Name. For a child: you are asking a love that is guaranteed by the very nature of the One you're asking — you can ask with complete confidence.

A Question to Sit With

How does it feel to ask for help from someone you know loves you no matter what?
