Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Wherever I look, I see the same One filling everything — living in every single heart.
But how rare is the person who sees it.
It's in the tiny ant and the huge elephant alike, in the water, the land, and the sky — the One behind it all.
The One was there at the start, is here in the middle, and will be there at the end. By the Guru's grace, we come to know it.
The One spread out the whole world and set all its play going. The One's people call the One a treasure of goodness.
Remember the Master who knows every heart. Nanak says: the One alone fills everything.
The same One lives inside the tiny ant and the giant elephant.
Jah daykh-a-u tah sang ayko rav rahi-aa — wherever I look, the One is there, filling everything. Ghat ghat vaasee — the One lives in every heart. Then comes a fun picture: keet hasat samaani-aa, the One is in the ant and the elephant. Keet means ant, and hasat means elephant.
The smallest creature and the biggest hold the very same presence. Size and importance don't change that. Think of the ant on the sidewalk, the elephant at the zoo and the person sitting next to you. They all carry the same light. The verse says virlai kinai lahi-aa — only a rare person truly sees this. To really see it is to treat everything, big or small, with care and respect.
If the same light is in the smallest ant, how might that change how you treat small creatures?
