In plain words

Remembering the One day and night, a person grows beautiful from the inside.

Loving the One, the heaviness lifts. Pain, hunger and being poor run away, and the path becomes clear.

Among good people, filled with the Name, you find what your heart was looking for.

Seeing the One, your wishes come true, and your whole family is carried across.

Day and night there is joy, says Nanak, remembering the One.

Remembering what's good makes you beautiful from the inside — and that light warms everyone around you.
The deeper layer

Remembering the One makes a person beautiful from the inside.

Din rain suhaavarhee aa-ee simrat naam haray — day and night become lovely by remembering the One's Name. Suhaavarhee means beautiful. It's a beauty that shows, like a face lit up from inside.

Loving the One, wrong things drop away, and pargat mag dikhaa-i-aa — the path becomes clear. Mag means path. A way that was foggy becomes plain. And the good spreads out: kul samboohaa sabh taray — the whole family is carried across. Your turning toward the good ripples out to the people around you. This shabad began by calling the One mother, father and friend. It ends by lifting your real family too. Think of one lamp lit in a house. Its glow reaches every room.

A Question to Sit With

How might your own peace and joy quietly bless the people in your home?
