Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Turned toward the Guru, you reflect on the True Name through the Word —
and in the True Court, you are found to be real.
This one asks: in the court that matters, are you real?
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line. It is the center of the shabad, the hymn, and it names the test the shabad turns on. Gurmukh saachay saachai darbaar — in the True Court, the Gurmukh is found true.
In that court, only one thing counts: are you true? Not your rank. Not how well you perform. Your realness. Think of a best friend who knows you so well that showing off doesn't work; only the real you shows up. Saach naam gur sabad veechaar — thinking on the True Name through the Guru's Word is what makes a person true enough to pass.
If you were measured only by how real you are, how would you do?
