A True Prayer Is Welcomed With Delight

ਸਚਾ ਅਰਜੁ ਸਚੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
sachaa araj sachee ardaas.
The true supplication, the true prayer
ਮਹਲੀ ਖਸਮੁ ਸੁਣੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥
mahlee khasam sunay saabaas.
- within the Mansion of His Sublime Presence, the True Lord Master hears and applauds these.
ਸਚੈ ਤਖਤਿ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
sachai takhat bulaavai so-ay.
He summons the truthful to His Heavenly Throne
ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
day vadi-aa-ee karay so ho-ay. ||2||
and bestows glorious greatness upon them; that which He wills, comes to pass. ||2||

In plain words

A true request, a true prayer — the One hears it within the house of its own presence, and welcomes it.

It calls the truthful to its side

and crowns them with honor; whatever it wills comes to pass.

A true prayer isn't just heard — it's welcomed with delight.
The deeper layer

This one says a true prayer is welcomed with delight.

Sachaa araj sachee ardaas — a true request, a true prayer. Ardaas means a prayer from the heart. The One doesn't just hear it. Khasam sunay saabaas — the Master hears and says, "Well done!" It is like a coach cheering when you give your honest best.

Sachai takhat bulaavai so-ay — the One calls the truthful to the True Throne and honors them. The honor flows from the One's will: karay so ho-ay, whatever He does comes to pass. It isn't won by clever bargaining. The honor is given, never taken.

A Question to Sit With

What would it mean to pray (or speak) so honestly that you would not mind it being overheard?
