Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I am no holy celibate, no truthful sage, no scholar — I came into the world foolish and unknowing.
So Nanak prays only this: let me shelter with those who never forget You.
When you have no credentials to boast of, keep company with those who remember.
Nanak strips himself of every credential — not celibate, not truthful, not learned — and makes the humblest possible prayer: simply to keep company with "those who do not forget You." When you can claim nothing of your own, the wise move is to stay close to the rememberers and let their Sangat carry you.
A Question to Sit With
Whose steady company helps you stay close to what matters?
