Verse 4 of 5

Once Awakened, Praise and Peace Come Easily

jis no too jaanaa-ihi so-ee jan jaanai.
That humble being, whom You inspire to understand, understands;
har gun sad hee aakh vakhaanai.
he continually speaks and chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
jin har sayvi-aa tin sukh paa-i-aa.
One who serves the Lord, obtains peace.
sehjay hee har naam samaa-i-aa. ||3||
He is easily absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||3||

In plain words

The humble one You awaken to understanding, understands;

such a one keeps speaking and singing the One's praises.

Whoever serves the One finds peace, and slips easily into the Name.

Once you're truly awakened to it, praise and peace come easily, on their own.
The deeper layer

Understanding is awakened by the One ("whom You inspire to understand"), and it overflows naturally into praise. Service brings peace, and the soul is "easily absorbed" — sahaj, the effortless settling into the Name once the heart is turned. Nothing here is forced; it flows from being awakened.

A Question to Sit With

What good thing flows out of you naturally when you feel deeply grateful?
