In plain words

Lost in the love of separateness, people wander through poisonous Maya.

The unlucky ones never meet the True Guru.

A heart turned only toward separateness keeps wandering and misses the very thing it needs.
The deeper layer

This one says a heart that thinks it is on its own keeps wandering.

Doojai bhaa-ay means "in the love of the second." It is loving things as if they were separate from the One. Bhaveh bikh maa-i-aa means "they wander through poisonous Maya." Maya is the pull of things, money, and showing off.

Bhaagheen nahee satgur paa-i-aa means "the unlucky do not find the True Guru." This is not bad luck handed out at random. It is what happens when a heart faces away from the Word.

Think of trying to find your way home while staring at your phone the whole time. You keep taking wrong turns. Look up and turn toward the right direction, and the path appears. A heart that listens to the Word is the one that finds the Guru.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you turn toward connection instead of drifting into isolation?
