Every Other Door Opens Back Onto the One

If I were to renounce You, God, unto whom could I turn?

There is no other, comparable to You.

The faithless cynics are deluded; they wander around in the wilderness. ||3||

In plain words

If I let go of You, God, who else could I turn to?

There is no one to compare with You; who else is even worth serving?

Those who turn away wander lost in the wilderness.

There is nowhere else to turn — every other door opens back onto the One.
The deeper layer

The rhetorical question of total devotion: "if I were to renounce You, unto whom could I turn?" There simply is no alternative — every other door opens back onto the One, and those who look elsewhere "wander in the wilderness" (cf. Shabad 26's "why look elsewhere?"). Loyalty here is not blind; it is the recognition that there is nowhere else to go.

A Question to Sit With

What in your life has proven itself the one thing truly worth holding onto?
