Verse 2 of 3

Even Your Kind Words Are Gifts Flowing Through You

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
jo kichh karay so aapay su-aamee har aapay kaar kamaavai.
Whatever the Lord and Master does, He does by Himself; the Lord Himself does the deeds.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੋਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
har aapay hee mat dayvai su-aamee har aapay bol bulaavai. ||1||
The Lord and Master Himself imparts understanding; the Lord Himself inspires us to speak. ||1||

In plain words

It helps to remember that everything unfolds within a gentle, larger doing.

Even the good thoughts we think and the kind words we speak are gifts flowing through us.

Even your good thoughts and kind words are gifts flowing through you — part of a bigger, gentle goodness.
The deeper layer

The verse gives the aapay ("He Himself") note that steadies the heart: "whatever the Lord does, He does by Himself... He Himself imparts understanding; He Himself inspires us to speak." Remembering that a larger, gentle goodness is at work — even in our own good thoughts and kind words — helps us hold steady and stay humble. For a child: even your good thoughts and kind words are gifts flowing through you, part of a bigger, gentle goodness.

A Question to Sit With

When a kind thought comes to you, does it feel a little like a gift?
