Karma is the tree, the Lord's Name the branches, Dharmic faith the flowers, and spiritual wisdom the fruit.

Realization of the Lord are the leaves, and eradication of the pride of the mind is the shade. ||2||

In plain words

The good things you do are the tree. The One's Naam is the branches. Living rightly is the flowers, and wisdom is the fruit.

Finding the One is the leaves, and when the pride of the mind is gone, that is the deep, cool shade.

A good life grows like a tree, and its cool shade is a heart with no pride left.
The deeper layer

A whole good life grows like one tree, from its trunk to its shade.

Karam, the things you do, is the trunk. The Naam is the branches. Dharam, living rightly, is the flowers. Gi-aan, true understanding, is the fruit. Seeing the One everywhere is the leaves.

And the shade? That is pride melting away. Chookaa man abhimaan means the pride of the mind is gone.

It is a perfect picture for the spring raag. Goodness is not just a rule you follow. It grows, like the tree in your backyard, and puts out leaves. A grown tree gives cool shade to everyone who sits under it. A heart with no pride left does the same for the people around it.

A Question to Sit With

If your life were a tree, what would you want its fruit to be?
