ਸਭਿ ਜੁਗ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ॥
sabh jug tayray keetay ho-ay.
All the ages were created by You, O Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਏ ॥੧॥
satgur bhaytai mat buDh ho-ay. ||1||
Meeting with the True Guru, one's intellect is awakened. ||1||

You made all the ages, O One.
Meeting the True Guru, a person's understanding wakes up.
The One made all of time; meeting the Guru wakes us up inside it.
All of time belongs to the One, and meeting the Guru wakes up your understanding.
Sabh jug tayray keetay: all the ages are Your making. Satgur bhaytai: meeting the True Guru. Mat budh ho-ay: understanding and good sense come alive.
Think of a light switched on in a dark room. Everything was already there; now you can see it.
