This mind is released, only when it meets with the True Guru.
ਜਮਕਾਲ ਕੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਫੇਟੈ ॥੩॥
jamkaal kee fir aavai na faytai. ||3||
Then, it does not suffer beatings by the Messenger of Death. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

This mind is set free when it meets the True Guru.

Then death's blows no longer come for it.

A tangled heart can be set completely free.
The deeper layer

Meet the True Guru, and the mind is set free, even from the fear of death.

Chhootai: released. Satgur bhaytai: meeting the True Guru. Jamkaal kee faytai: the blows of death; jam is death's messenger. Once the mind is free, death loses its grip on it.

A Question to Sit With

What is a fear that loosened its grip once you were not alone with it?
