ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
ayko ayk rahi-aa bharpoor.
The One and Only Lord is present and prevailing everywhere.
ਸਾਕਤ ਨਰ ਲੋਭੀ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਦੂਰਿ ॥੩॥
saakat nar lobhee jaaneh door. ||3||
The greedy, faithless cynic thinks that God is far away. ||3||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The One and only One is everywhere, filling everything.
A greedy person who has turned away from the One thinks the One is far off.
The One only seems far when we have turned away.
The One is always near, even when it feels far.
Ayko ayk rahi-aa bharpoor — the One and only One is present everywhere, full to the brim. Saakat nar lobhee jaaneh door — the greedy saakat thinks the One is far away. A saakat is someone who has turned away from the One.
The distance we feel comes from our own forgetting. The One has not gone anywhere.
Think of the moon on a cloudy night. You cannot see it, but it has not moved. When the clouds pass, there it is.
A Question to Sit With
When something felt far from you, was it gone — or just out of view?
