Sikhism·Raag Basant·Shabad 42
Verse 4 of 5

Nothing Can Shake the One's Friends

ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਆਨੰਦ ਮੈ ॥
jaa kay bhagat aanand mai.
His devotees are totally in bliss.
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਕਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਖੈ ॥
jaa kay bhagat ka-o naahee khai.
His devotees cannot be destroyed.
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਕਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਭੈ ॥
jaa kay bhagat ka-o naahee bhai.
His devotees are not afraid.
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਜੈ ॥੩॥
jaa kay bhagat ka-o sadaa jai. ||3||
His devotees are victorious forever. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One's devotees are full of bliss.

The One's devotees can never be worn away.

The One's devotees are not afraid.

The One's devotees win, always and forever.

A heart rooted in the One is hard to shake.
The deeper layer

People who love the One are full of joy, all the way through.

The verse says it four times, like a drumbeat. Jaa kay bhagat aanand mai — the One's bhagat, the people who love the One, are made of joy. Naahee khai — nothing wears them away. Naahee bhai — they are not afraid. Sadaa jai — they win, always.

Think of a kite on a strong string. The wind can push it around. The string keeps it up. Love for the One is that string.

This "winning" is not about beating other people. It means being well inside, whatever happens outside.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you feel steady when things get scary?
