My mind and body are gripped by thirst and desire.
ਗੁਰਿ ਦਇਆਲਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਸ ॥

The Merciful Guru has fulfilled my hopes.
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਾਟੇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ॥

I chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord; I am in love with the Name of the Lord. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

A deep thirst has taken hold inside my mind and body.

The kind Guru has filled my hopes.

In the Sangat, all my wrongs are cut away.

I chant the Naam, dyed in love for the One's Naam.

A deep thirst inside you is a sign of what you are made to seek.
The deeper layer

A deep thirst inside you is answered by the kind Guru, and in the Sangat your wrongs are cut away.

man tan bheetar laagee piaas — thirst within. kilvikh kaatay saadhsang — the old weight cut away in the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One; naam rang — in love with the Naam.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you feel a deep longing for, deeper than everyday wants?
