Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I fix my mind on the One's lotus feet.

In kindness, the One gave me this gift.

I long for the dust of the feet of Your saints.

Nanak says: I meditate on my Master, who is always here, close at hand.

Nearness to what you love is itself a gift.
The deeper layer

Keeping your mind on the One is a gift, and the One you love is always close at hand.

charan kamal sio lago dhiaan — meditation settled at the lotus feet. baachhau dhoor — longing for the dust of the saints' feet, an image of humility; sad hajoor — ever-present.

A Question to Sit With

Who is someone you would happily be humble around, just to stay near them?
