Looked After

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ ॥
kar kirpaa nadar nihaali-aa.
Bestowing His Mercy, He blesses us with His Glance of Grace.
ਅਪਣਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲਿਆ ॥੨॥
apnaa daas aap samHaali-aa. ||2||
God Himself takes care of His slave. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

In kindness, the One looks on me with a loving glance.

The One takes care of His own servant Himself.

You are looked after — that care was always there, waiting for you to notice.
The deeper layer

You are looked after, and that care is a gift.

Kar kirpaa nadar nihaali-aa — in kindness, the One looks on us with a glance of grace. Nadar means that loving look. Apnaa daas aap samHaali-aa: the One takes care of His own servant, personally. It is care that is received as a gift.

Think of a parent checking on a sleeping child at night. The child did nothing to earn it. It is simply what love does.

A Question to Sit With

When has someone taken care of you without you even asking?
