Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Craving, anger and the never-enough thirst for more are gone from me.

Nanak says: the One has become kind to me.

When the inside fires cool, a deep calm takes their place.
The deeper layer

When the One turns kind, the fires of craving, anger and endless wanting go out.

Kaam kroDh tarisnaa ga-ee: kaam, strong craving, kroDh, anger, and tarisnaa, the thirst that always wants more, have all gone. They are like fires inside that keep a person hot and restless.

Naanak parabh kirpaa bha-ee: Nanak says the One has become kind. Think of a hot summer day when the sky opens and cool rain falls. Nobody earns the rain. It comes, and everything cools down.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you cool down when a strong feeling is burning inside?
