Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One Himself has taken away the sickness.

He laid His hand on His child and kept the child safe.

Being cared for can feel as safe as a small child held close.
The deeper layer

The One heals and protects, the way a parent cares for a child.

Rog mitaa-ay parabhoo aap: the One Himself has taken the rog, the sickness, away. In Gurbani, sickness can mean an illness of the body or an ache of the mind, like worry or pride.

Baalak raakhay apnay kar thaap: He laid His hand on His own child and kept the child safe. Think of a parent resting a cool hand on a child's hot forehead at night. The child feels the hand and knows someone is watching over them.

A Question to Sit With

Who makes you feel safe and held when you are not feeling well?
