I have sought the Sanctuary of the Perfect Guru; I chant the Mantra of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, the Embodiment of emancipation. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Peace and easy calm fill my home, and it is always spring.

I have come to the shelter of the Perfect Guru. I repeat the Naam of the One, Har, Har, the words that set me free.

Peace inside is a spring that does not end with the season.
The deeper layer

With the Naam inside, peace fills your home and it stays spring all year.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Saa-nt sahj garihi sad basant: peace and easy calm are in my home, and it is sad basant, always spring. The home here is the heart. Outside, seasons come and go. Inside, the spring can stay.

Gur pooray kee sarnee aa-ay: I have come into the shelter of the Perfect Guru. Kali-aan roop jap har har mant: I repeat the mant, the sacred words, Har, Har, which are kali-aan roop, the very shape of freedom and well-being. Think of a greenhouse in winter. Snow falls outside, but inside the plants stay green and flowering.

A Question to Sit With

What helps it feel like spring inside for you, even on a hard day?
