ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
hukam kar keenHay nihaal.
By His Will, He makes us happy.
ਅਪਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਭਇਆ ਦਇਆਲੁ ॥੧॥
apnay sayvak ka-o bha-i-aa da-i-aal. ||1||
He shows Mercy to His servant. ||1||

Through the flow of life, the One has filled us with joy.
The One is kind to His servant.
When you stop fighting the flow of life, it often turns kind.
The flow of life can fill you with joy, and the One is kind to those who serve.
Hukam means the flow of existence, the way life moves. Hukam kar keenay nihaal — through that flow, the One makes us nihaal, full of joy.
Think of a sailboat. When the sail turns to catch the wind, the boat glides and everyone cheers. Fighting the wind only tires you out. The One is da-i-aal, kind, to apnay sayvak, the ones who serve with love.
