ਆਪਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੇ ॥
aap karahi aap karnaihaaray.
He Himself does, and causes everything to be done.

The One Himself does everything, and He Himself makes everything happen.
Nanak says: in His kindness, He saves us.
The same source is quietly behind everything that happens.
The One does everything, and out of kindness lifts us up.
aap karahi aap karnaihaaray — the One does it all and also makes it all happen. The One is both the one doing and the doing itself.
Think of a puppet show where the puppeteer also wrote the story, built the stage and made every puppet. Everything you see comes from one pair of hands. kar kirpaa naanak uDhaaray — Nanak says that, with kirpaa, kindness, the One saves us. It is a gift we do not have to earn.
