Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
So many cry out to see You.
Rare is the one who knows the Guru's Word and is joined with You.
Many long to see; the ones who grow quiet and listen slip into the One.
Many long to see the One, and the rare one who knows the Guru's Word is joined with the One.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the centre of the shabad. Ketee billaae: countless souls cry out for the darshan, the blessed sight. Virlaa ko cheenas gur sabad milaae: rare are those who recognize the Word and merge. What is rare is deep listening; the One is generous.
