Verse 5 of 9

One Path for Every Age

ayko Dharam darirhai sach ko-ee.
There is only one religion of Dharma; let everyone grasp this truth.
gurmat pooraa jug jug so-ee.
Through the Guru's Teachings, one becomes perfect, all the ages through.
anhad raataa ayk liv taar.
Imbued with the Unmanifest Celestial Lord, and lovingly absorbed in the One,
oh gurmukh paavai alakh apaar. ||4||
the Gurmukh attains the invisible and infinite. ||4||

In plain words

There is only one Dharma, one true way; let everyone hold this Truth tight.

Through the Guru's teaching, a person grows whole, in every age.

Colored by the One whose music never stops, and held in love for the One, the Gurmukh reaches the One who cannot be seen and has no end.

Beneath all the names and traditions runs one true way.
The deeper layer

There is one true way, and holding to the Truth through the Guru's teaching makes you whole in any age.

Eko dharam drirai sach koee: there is one true way; let everyone grasp it. Beneath every tradition is a single reality. Anhad is the unstruck sound, the endless music heard by a heart tuned to the One.

A Question to Sit With

What do different people who love goodness seem to share underneath their differences?
