What Stays With You

moorhHay kaahay bisaari-o tai raam naam.
You fool! How can you have forgotten the Lord's Name?

At the very last moment, it and it alone shall be of any use to you. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Foolish friend, why have you forgotten the One's Naam?

At the very end, the Naam alone will help you.

When everything else falls away, the Naam is what stays.
The deeper layer

Keep the Naam close, because at the very end it is the one thing that helps.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the centre of the shabad. Ant kaal terai aavai kaam: at the very end, when all else falls away, the Naam alone is of use. It is a simple fact about what lasts and what does not.

A Question to Sit With

Of all the things you hold onto, which ones would still matter if the rest were gone?
