Full on One Taste

ਨਾਨਕ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਆਦਿ ॥
naanak Dharaapay har naam su-aad.
Nanak is satisfied with the subtle taste of the Lord's Name.
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਜਨਮੁ ਬਾਦਿ ॥੮॥੭॥
bin har gur pareetam janam baad. ||8||7||
Without the Beloved Lord and Master, life is meaningless. ||8||7||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Nanak says: the subtle taste of the One's Naam has filled me, satisfied all the way through.

Without the Beloved, the One and the Guru, a life goes by empty, with no flavor at all.

One taste of the Naam fills you; the Beloved gives life its flavor.
The deeper layer

One taste of the Naam fills you, and it is the Beloved who gives life its flavor.

Naanak dhraape har naam suaad — Nanak is filled by the subtle taste of the Naam. Bin har gur preetam janam baad: without the Beloved, life loses its flavor. Turned around, it is the Beloved who gives every day its taste.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that fills you up completely, so you do not need more?
