O Nanak, the Gurmukh is absorbed in celestial peace and poise, like water blending with water. ||8||1||9||

In plain words

The endless Creator is the water itself, and the One draws us into union.

Nanak says: the one who turns toward the Guru melts into peace and calm, like water blending into water.

Coming home to the One is as easy as water melting into water.
The deeper layer

Coming home to the One is as easy as water melting into water.

Aapay jal aprampar kartaa — the endless Creator is the water itself. Aprampar means without any end. Aapay mayl milaavai — and the One draws us together.

Naanak gurmukh sahj milaa-ay — the gurmukh, a heart turned to the teaching, merges in sahj. Sahj means natural ease, calm with no strain. Ji-o jal jaleh samaavai — like water blending into water.

Pour a cup of water into a lake. A second later, you cannot find where the cup's water ends. There is no seam, no struggle, nothing left apart. The restless child from the first verse has come all the way home.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like when something finally fits so perfectly there is no seam left?
