Even in his dreams, he does not chant the Lord's Name. ||3||

In plain words

Saying "I, I, me, me," a person's wrongdoing only grows.

The world is drowning in attachment and greed. Craving and anger have taken control of the mind.

Not even in dreams does that person say the Naam of the One.

When me-and-mine runs the show, there is no room left for peace — but it can be healed.
The deeper layer

When "I and mine" runs the mind, wrongs pile up and the Naam is forgotten, even in dreams.

Ha-o ha-o karat: saying I, I, again and again. This is haumai (ego — the feeling of being a separate self), and it makes the tangles grow. Moh lobh: attachment and greed can drown a person. Kaam krodh: craving and anger take the reins. In Gurbani these are like an illness to be healed, an overgrowth of the separate self. The cure is remembering.

A Question to Sit With

When the loud I, me, mine gets big inside you, what helps it quiet down?
