Leaping Without Feet

ਪਗਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੁਰੀਆ ਮਾਰਤਾ ॥
pagaa bin huree-aa maartaa.
Without feet, the mortal jumps.
ਬਦਨੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਰ ਖਿਰ ਹਾਸਤਾ ॥
badnai bin khir khir haastaa.
Without a mouth, he bursts into laughter.

Without feeling sleepy, he lays down and sleeps.

Without a churn, the milk is churned. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Without feet, a person leaps.

Without a mouth, they burst out laughing.

Without feeling sleepy, they lie down and sleep.

Without a churn, the milk is churned.

Some real things happen on a level the eyes alone cannot explain.
The deeper layer

Some things happen on a level the outward senses cannot follow.

Pagaa bin huree-aa maartaa: leaping without feet. Badnai bin khir khir haastaa: laughing without a mouth. Bin baasan kheer bilovai: churning milk without a churn. Each impossible picture points to something happening deep inside.

A Question to Sit With

Can you think of something real that you cannot see — only feel?
