In plain words

There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.

Where would I go? My own home is filled with color and joy.

My mind does not wander off anymore. It has gone still, as if it could no longer walk away.

When home is full of joy, the heart stops needing to wander off looking for it.
The deeper layer

When your own home is full of joy, there is nowhere else you need to go.

This is the pause line, the rahaa-o, the center of the shabad. It is also the only shabad by Bhagat Raamaanand in the Guru Granth Sahib. It starts with a short opening blessing: One Creator, known by the True Guru's grace.

Kat jaa-ee-ai means where should I go? Ghar laago rang means my home is filled with color and joy. Here "home" means your own heart.

Think of a kid who used to beg to go out every evening, but now the house is full of cousins and laughter. Why would she leave? In the same way, Raamaanand's mind has stopped running around. It has grown quiet and settled. The One is found right inside.

A Question to Sit With

Where is a place that already feels full of joy for you?
