He alone is a Qazi, a judge, who looks deeply into his own body and self,
and, in the fire within the body, is lit up by the One.
Even in his dreams he keeps his body's strength steady and in his command.
For such a Qazi there is no old age and no death.
A judge worthy of the name looks honestly into himself and is lit from inside by the One.
Kabir honors the Qazi, a Muslim judge, by inner work. Kaajee so jo kaa-i-aa beechaarai: the judge is the one who examines his own self. Kaa-i-aa kee agan barahm parjaarai: in the fire inside the body, the One shines. Supnai bind na day-ee jharnaa: even in dreams he stays in full command of his body, a picture of complete self-control. Tis kaajee ka-o jaraa na marnaa: for such a judge there is no old age or death; what he has found is beyond the reach of time. He rules himself before he rules anyone else.
