Blaming The World Comes Back Around

ਦਿਲ ਖਲਹਲੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਜਰਦ ਰੂ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
dil khalhal jaa kai jarad roo baanee.
Pale are the faces of those whose hearts are disturbed.
ਛੋਡਿ ਕਤੇਬ ਕਰੈ ਸੈਤਾਨੀ ॥
chhod katayb karai saitaanee.
They have forsaken their Bible, and practice Satanic evil.
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੋਸੁ ਰੋਸੁ ਹੈ ਲੋਈ ॥
dunee-aa dos ros hai lo-ee.
One who blames the world, and is angry with people,
ਅਪਨਾ ਕੀਆ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥
apnaa kee-aa paavai so-ee. ||3||
shall receive the fruits of his own actions. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Those whose hearts are troubled have pale faces.

They leave their holy book behind and do wicked, harmful things.

Whoever blames the world and is angry with people

receives the fruit of their own actions.

Blaming everyone else only keeps the trouble circling back to you.
The deeper layer

Leave your good teaching and blame the world, and your own actions come back to you.

A gentle warning against turning bitter. Dil khalhal: a heart in turmoil, and a pale face to match. Chhod kateb karai saitaanee: abandoning the holy book, doing harm. It names the kateb, the revealed books, with respect; the critique is of forsaking one's own good teaching and blaming everyone else, a failing possible in any tradition, and never a jab at Islam. Duniaa dos ros hai lo-ee: blaming the world, angry at people. Apnaa kee-aa paavai so-ee: you meet the fruit of your own doing (karma).

A Question to Sit With

What is a kinder thing to do than blame the world when you feel upset?
