Millions of suns shine for the One.
Millions of Shivas, the great god, and millions of Kailash mountains, where Shiva lives, are the One's.
Millions of Durgas, the great goddess, tend the One's feet.
Millions of Brahmas, the creator god, chant the Vedas, the oldest holy songs, for the One.
The One is greater than all the greatest things we can imagine.
Kabir opens a long list, like someone counting stars. "kot soor jaa kai pargaas" — millions of suns give the One light. Kot means ten million. It is a way of saying "more than you can count."
Then he names the grandest figures of the Hindu tradition, all with respect. Mahaadayv is Shiva, and Kailash is the mountain where Shiva lives. Durga is a great goddess. Brahma is the creator god, and the Vedas are the oldest Hindu scriptures. Kabir shows every one of them serving the boundless Source.
This does not make any of them small. Think of the sky on a clear night. Every star is huge, yet the sky holds them all. Kabir points to a greatness beyond every name.
What is the biggest, most awe-inspiring thing you can picture?
