Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Namdev milked the brown cow and carried a cup of milk and a jug of water to his family's god.

Love shows itself in small, real offerings.
The deeper layer

Love can begin with something as small as a cup of milk.

Doodh katorai gadvai paanee: milk in a cup, water in a jug. Kapal gaa-ay naamai duhi aanee: Namdev milked the brown cow and brought it. In the old story Namdev, still a boy, carries the milk and water to the family's shrine to offer it.

Think of a child bringing breakfast in bed to a parent. The gift is small, and it carries a whole heart.

A Question to Sit With

What is a small gift you could give someone just to show you care?
