A Weight in Gold

ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਨੇਹੁ ॥
baadisaah bayntee sunayhu.
The people pleaded with the king, "Hear our prayer, O king.
ਨਾਮੇ ਸਰ ਭਰਿ ਸੋਨਾ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧੦॥
naamay sar bhar sonaa layho. ||10||
Here, take Naam Dayv's weight in gold, and release him."||10||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The people plead, "O king, please hear our prayer.

Take Namdev's weight in gold, and set him free."

Some things can't be bought — they have to change inside.
The deeper layer

People who care try to buy a friend's freedom with gold.

Baadisaah bayntee sunayho: O king, listen to our plea. Naamay sar bhar sonaa layho: take gold equal to Namdev's weight. The townspeople care about him and offer a fortune to save him. The story is about to show that this knot will be untied by a change of heart, first the king's and then everyone's.
