ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹੁ ਮਹਲ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥

The king went into his palace,
ਅਉਘਟ ਕੀ ਘਟ ਲਾਗੀ ਆਇ ॥੨੧॥
a-ughat kee ghat laagee aa-ay. ||21||
and his heart was troubled. ||21||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The king goes into his palace,

and his heart is heavy and troubled.

An uneasy heart is often pride beginning to soften.
The deeper layer

A proud heart, once troubled, can begin to soften.

Baadisaahu mahal meh jaa-ay: the king goes into his palace. A-ughat kee ghat laagee aa-ay: a hard, churning time comes over his heart. This is the turn of the whole story. The unease in his chest is the start of humility, pride cracking open so something truer can come in. His change is treated with respect.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever felt uneasy right before you admitted you were wrong?
