Namdev answers, "I am not your little son, and you are not my mother.
Even if my body falls and dies, I will keep singing the praises of the One."
Some loves are too deep to be bargained away, even by fear.
Some love runs so deep that even fear cannot talk it away.
Na ha-o tayraa poongarhaa, na too mayree maa-ay: I am not your son, and you are not my mother. Namdev turns down her request, and his love for her stays. Pind parhai ta-o har gun gaa-ay: even if the body falls, I sing the One's praises. This is devotion past all bargaining. It is steadfast love, holding on whatever happens; Namdev means to keep on singing.
