ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਨਕਾਦਿਕ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥
govind pareet sankaadik uDhaaray.
Love of the Lord of the Universe saved Sanak and his brother, the sons of Brahma.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
raam naam sabad beechaaray. ||1||
They contemplated the Word of the Shabad, and the Name of the Lord. ||1||

Love for the Lord of the Universe carried Sanak and his brothers, the sons of Brahma, safely across.
They thought deeply on the Word and on the Naam of the One.
Even the greatest were carried by their love for the One.
Love for the One, and the Naam held in thought, carry even the greatest across.
Govind preet sankaadik udhaaray: love of Govind, the Lord of the Universe, saved Sanak and his brothers, honored sages known in the old Hindu stories as the sons of Brahma. Raam naam sabad beechaaray: they reflected on the Word and the Naam. Love and the Naam lift even the most exalted.
