At Home in Your Own Heart

ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
nij ghar vasai sahj subhaa-ay.
He naturally, intuitively dwells within the home of his own inner being.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੩॥
gurmukh naam vasai man aa-ay. ||3||
The Naam abides within the mind of the Gurmukh. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Such a one lives, easily and naturally, in the home of their own inner self.

For the one who turns toward the Guru, the Naam comes and lives in the mind.

Peace is being naturally at home in your own heart.
The deeper layer

When the Naam comes to live in your mind, you rest at home inside yourself, at ease.

Nij ghar vasai: dwelling in nij ghar, one's own home within. Sahj subhaa-ay: naturally, with sahaj, an effortless ease, the calm of a soul that has stopped fighting its own nature. The Naam living in the mind is that homecoming.

A Question to Sit With

Where or when do you feel most naturally at ease, without trying?
