Seek It, and the Guru Hands It Over

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨ ਭਾਲਹਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
raam naam jan bhaaleh so-ay.
That humble being who seeks the Lord's Name,
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
pooray gur tay paraapat ho-ay. ||2||
receives it from the Perfect Guru. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The humble one who searches for the Naam of the One

receives it from the Perfect Guru.

Seek the Naam sincerely, and it is placed in your hands.
The deeper layer

Search for the Naam, and the Perfect Guru places it in your hands.

Raam naam jan bhaaleh so-ay: the jan, the humble one, who bhaaleh, searches, for the Naam. Pooray gur tay paraapat ho-ay: receives it from the Perfect Guru. Sincere seeking meets its answer.

A Question to Sit With
