Lost Without a Guide

bhairo mehlaa 3.
Bhairao, Third Mehl:
baajh guroo jagat ba-uraanaa bhoolaa chotaa khaa-ee.
Without the Guru, the world is insane; confused and deluded, it is beaten, and it suffers.
It dies and dies again, and is reborn, always in pain, but it is unaware of the Lord's Gate. ||1||

In plain words

Without the Guru, the world goes crazy. Lost and confused, it keeps taking hard knocks.

It dies and is born, again and again, always hurting, and never learns where the One's door is.

Without a guide it is easy to stumble and miss the doorway home.
The deeper layer

Without a guide, the world stumbles and gets hurt, and never finds the One's door.

Baajh guroo jagat ba-uraanaa: without the Guru the world is ba-uraanaa, crazy, like someone spinning in the dark. Bhoolaa chotaa khaa-ee: lost, it takes blow after blow. Mar mar jammai: dying and being born, again and again. Dar kee khabar na paa-ee: all that time it never hears where the door is.

A Question to Sit With

When you feel lost, who or what helps show you the way?
