Prahlaad did not read in duality, and he did not abandon the Lord's Name; he was not afraid of any fear.

The Dear Lord became the Savior of the Saint, and the demonic Death could not even approach him. ||4||

In plain words

Prahlaad would not read with a split mind, and he would not let go of the One's Naam. No one's threats could make him afraid.

The dear One became the guardian of the holy one, and death, fierce as a demon, could not even come near him.

Hold on to what's true and no one's threats can lay a hand on you.
The deeper layer

Prahlaad held on to the Naam and was not afraid, and the One kept him safe.

Prahlaad didn't split his heart and didn't let go of the Naam. Darai na kisai daa daraa-i-aa: he wasn't frightened by anyone's threats.

Har jee-o raakhaa: the dear One became his guardian. Even kaal, death and the fear of it, couldn't come near him. Think of a lighthouse. Big waves crash all around it, but it stands steady and keeps shining. Prahlaad's heart was like that, because the One was holding it.

A Question to Sit With

What gives you courage when someone tries to frighten you?
