Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
O my mind, remember the One, the Giver of peace.
I praise You, O One; You are my Father.
Hold the Giver of peace close — you belong with the One like a child with a parent.
Remember the One who gives peace, and praise the One as your own Father.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Har sukh-daata mayray man jaap: O my mind, remember the One, the Giver of peace. Too mayraa har parabh baap: You are my Father. The One who fills every heart is also as close as a parent.
Think of a small child calling out "Dad!" across a busy playground, sure of being heard.
