Sikhism·Raag Bhairao·Shabad 33
Verse 3 of 5

Wherever I Look, You

ਜਹ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
jah jah daykhaa tah har parabh so-ay.
Wherever I look, I see only the Lord God.
ਸਭ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
sabh tayrai vas doojaa avar na ko-ay. ||2||
All are under Your control; there is no other at all. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Wherever I look, there I see the One.

Everything is in Your hands; there is no other at all.

Wherever you turn your eyes, the One is already there.
The deeper layer

Wherever you look, the One is there, and everything rests in the One's hands.

Jah jah daykhaa tah har parabh so-ay: wherever I look, the One is there. Sabh tayrai vas: everything is in Your hands. Doojaa avar na ko-ay: there is no other.

Think of sunlight coming into a room. It touches the table, the floor, your hands, everything it falls on.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you most easily sense something bigger than yourself?
