Verse 4 of 5

Whom You Keep, Nothing Can Harm

ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
jis ka-o tum har raakhi-aa bhaavai.
O Lord, when it is Your Will to save someone,
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਨੇੜੈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
tis kai nayrhai ko-ay na jaavai. ||3||
then nothing can threaten him. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O One, when it pleases You to keep someone safe, nothing can come near to threaten them.

Held by the One, nothing troubling can get close.
The deeper layer

When the One chooses to keep someone safe, nothing can come near to threaten them.

Jis ka-o tum har raakhi-aa bhaavai: whoever You wish to keep safe. Tis kai nayrhai ko-ay na jaavai: no one can come near them.

Think of a baby bird tucked under its mother's wing while the wind blows outside.

A Question to Sit With

What makes you feel safe and protected?
