I serve the One Lord, and not any other. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I do not go on pilgrimage to the Kaaba in Mecca, and I do not worship at the sacred shrines.
I serve the One alone, and no other.
You don't need a faraway place to find what your heart is looking for.
Serve the One alone, right where you are.
Haj kaabai: the Hajj, the Muslim pilgrimage to the Kaaba in Mecca. Tirath: Hindu sacred places of pilgrimage, often beside rivers. A Muslim pilgrimage and Hindu shrines are named side by side. The words fall on outward form in every tradition, with respect for both faiths.
