In plain words

The walk grows slow and clumsy, feet and hands shake, and the skin of the body withers and wrinkles.

The eyes grow dim and the ears grow deaf, and still the one who follows only their own mind does not know the Naam.

Bodies change with time, and knowing the Naam is what makes a life whole.
The deeper layer

Even as the body grows old and weak, a life can pass without knowing the Naam.

Bhoondee chaal: a slow, clumsy walk. Tuchaa dayh kumlaanee: the skin withers like a flower past its day. Naytree dhundh, karan bha-ay bahray: the eyes grow dim and the ears deaf. None of this is a punishment; bodies change.

The sadness is in the last words: manmukh naam na jaanee. The one turned toward their own mind still does not know the Naam.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you'd like to understand deeply before you grow old?
