Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The One made the soul, the breath of life and the body.
The One who created every being knows their pain.
The One who made you also knows where it hurts.
Jee-o paraan means soul and breath of life. The One made those, and made the body too. Then comes a tender line: jineh upaa-ay tis ka-o peer. The One who created every being feels their peer, their pain.
Think of a parent who can tell from one look at your face that school was hard today. You didn't say a word, but they know. The One is not far away. The One who shaped you is the same One who feels your hurt. This gentle start sets the tone for the whole shabad.
When you are hurting, does it help to feel that someone sees you?
